The Colorado Rockies were a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL) that played in Denver from 1976 to 1982. They were founded as the Kansas City Scouts in 1974, but moved to Denver after only two seasons. The Rockies were a popular team in Denver, but they struggled on the ice. They only made the playoffs once, in 1978, and they never won a playoff series. In 1982, the Rockies were sold and moved to New Jersey, where they became the Devils.
